Celtic have been linked to various managers over the course of the last six days. With a new name mentioned daily this week, the Celtic fans are just waiting patiently for the club to make an announcement on who will take over from Ange Postecoglou.

But one manager that has been heavily linked to Celtic over the past few days is Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen. The Norwegian has been impressing clubs around Europe with his results and performances with the defending Eliteserien and has been attracting the attention of Dutch giants, Ajax.

Former Celtic player Vidar Risteth is already on record as saying he believes Knutsen would be a success at Celtic. But what are the chances of him taking the vacant manager’s job if it was offered to him? It would hang in the balance according to the former Hoops man.

Riseth said [The Sun], “Kjetil is a really good coach and I am sure the Celtic fans remember what Bodo did to them last year.

“I spoke to him about Celtic around that time and I was talking about the club and the atmosphere.

“I remember Kjetil saying to me, ‘How was it to play for Celtic?’, and I told him it was an amazing experience.

“I know that he likes Celtic as a club and he will know all about the current team.

“With so many good players and Champions League football, it’s a very attractive job.

“But I need to be honest, it wouldn’t be easy to get Kjetil away from Bodo.

“I believe that if Celtic made him an offer it would be a 50-50 call – but they should at least ask him.

“I’m 100 per cent certain that he would be a big success at Celtic. He is happy where he is but if a big club like Celtic make him an offer, then of course any manager would have a decision to make.

“He has a good contract at Bodo and it would take a lot to get him to leave, so that is why I am unsure.

“That’s not me saying Celtic aren’t special enough for him. It’s just that he loves Bodo. They treat him well at the club and maybe he will see out the rest of the season there.

“But as a Celtic man, I would love to see him as the coach of the club. He would carry on the good work of Ange Postecoglou, who was a fantastic manager for Celtic and deserved his chance at Tottenham.

“But if Celtic chose to appoint Kjetil, then that would be a really good decision.”

With Celtic reportedly due to approach Enzo Maresca over the next few days, it does seem as though the managerial hunt is starting to make some progress.

The Celtic supporters will be weary now at the sheer volume of rumours surrounding their club. They will be desperate to see the new man in place so we can plan for next season.

Until we get official confirmation from the club on who is about to take over the role left vacant by Ange Postecoglou, we are going to have to remain calm and patient and trust that the recruitment process is well down the line.
