As the Celtic manager hunt continues, the speculation surrounding who will take up the position is now starting to reach fever-pitch.

With names like Enzo Maresca, Andoni Iraola and Graham Potter doing the rounds, the Celtic job is really appealing to some of the best young coaches in the game.

One man that was personally recommended by Norway legend Jaan Aage Fjortoft has certainly been popular amongst the fans. Fjortoft tweeted Celtic telling them to ‘hurry up’ and speak to the Bodo/Glimt boss as the Ajax speculation intensified.

And here, the 71-cap former Norway international tells why he took the unusual step of publicly recommending the two-time Norwegian champion.

Fjortoft said [Daily Mail], “I don’t really like recommending people because you will end up biting your own tail at some stage.

“I wouldn’t do it if he had only won the league in Norway. Dominating in Norway on astroturf pitches doesn’t impress me.

“What did impress me was not just beating Roma 6-1.

“It was the fact that he went to Rome and they were the dominant team in Italy.

“For a club to evolve and develop, you need your own identity and Kjetil is that kind of manager.”

Knutsen certainly seems like he would be a perfect fit for Celtic. Possession football with attacking intent is what we had become accustomed to under Ange Postecoglou. And it would be wise for the Celtic board to continue that by appointing a manager that wants to play that way. For one, the Celtic fans love it. And secondly, we already have the squad in place to provide it.

All Knutsen would need to do would be to make small tweaks and add players of his own that he believes could improve the team.

With every passing day, there seems to be a new name brought forward. But for now, the Celtic fans will just need to watch and wait to see who the club choose to take us forward into next season.
