Alexandro Bernabei seems to be the man of the moment for Celtic right now and he isn’t even at the club.

Bernabei has been in sparkling form for Internacional this season and prior to this weekend had made his 15th straight league start for the Brazilian club.

Bernabei has created two goals and scored two before facing Atletico Miniero on Saturday and once again, the on-loan Celtic defender is hitting the headlines at his temporary club.

Alexandro Bernabei scores again as on-loan Celtic defender continues excellent Internacional spell

Bernabei made his 16th league appearance for Inter in the 3-1 win over Atletico Miniero and in the 40th minute he did this:

That goal takes the Argentine up to three for the season and places Internacional 5th in the Brazilian Serie A and on course to qualify for the Copa Libertadores next season.

What Brendan Rodgers has said about Alexandro Bernabei as Celtic’s demands become clear

Internacional is said to be interested in retaining the services of Bernabei but that does seem to be a long way off from happening.

67 Hail Hail discussed earlier how Celtic are said to be asking Internacional for around £8m for Bernabei from Inter but that does seem to be too expensive for the Brazilian club.

Whether or not both clubs can come to an agreement for the defender is one thing but it is clear that Bernabei’s stay in Glasgow seems to be nearing an end.

Brendan Rodgers barely used Bernabei last season and speaking after having a disciplinary issue at the beginning of the season, the Celtic boss said of the defender, “I think he hasn’t had his best time here, that’s the brutal honesty of it. I just asked him to play in the games like what I’ve seen from him in training at times.

“He’s aggressive, he’s quick but he needs to serve the ball with precision a little better. He has qualities, that’s why he was signed. He’s a guy who can hopefully show his best form because in training I’ve seen lots of good qualities from him. Greg Taylor has played at a really, really good level consistently.

If Bernabei continues his current run of excellent form maybe it won’t be so difficult for Celtic to get that fee they are demanding for the 24-year-old defender after all.
