Football is a funny old game.
For the past 12 months, Celtic have been searching for a striker and a much-needed goalscorer following Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit last January.
But as the Hoops toiled to find that number nine, one of Celtic’s former players, Hyeongyu Oh, continues to go from strength to strength in his career.
After Oh’s success with Genk in Belgium, he moved to Turkey during the January transfer window and joined Besiktas, where he made the perfect start, and in some style.

Hyeongyu Oh scores an overhead kick on Besiktas debut against Alanyaspor
First impressions are the ones that last longest, and for Oh, he has arrived in Besiktas in some style after making his debut on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was thrown straight into the action, winning a penalty in the first half, with his side 2-0 down and off to the worst possible start.
Besiktas converted their penalty, before Oh turned it on in the second half by scoring a brilliant overhead kick, as you can watch in the video below, where you can also debate Oh’s time in Celtic colours.
Was Hyeongyu Oh given a fair chance at Celtic?
Oh’s goalscoring record since leaving Celtic…
It needs to be put into perspective that Oh had a rampant Kyogo in front of him when he was in Glasgow, so he was always going to be the second choice.
But the fact of the matter is, he was still a bench player, and he probably felt he deserved more chances.
Either way, since leaving Celtic Park, Oh has started to shine and is now proving that, if he were still with the champions of Scotland, then he would be a certain starter.
