Kris Boyd had the pleasure of covering Rangers vs Genk for Sky Sports on Thursday evening.

The former Rangers striker turned pundit was in the hotseat with headphones on to deliver frequent updates across the Europa League match.

And it’s safe to say former Celtic striker and current Genk hitman Oh Hyeon-gyu was at the forefront of Boyd’s reportage.

Oh was the man to silence Ibrox as his goal earned Genk a 1-0 win over Rangers to kickstart their campaign with three deserved points.

Oh really should have scored a hat-trick as Rangers struggled to deal with the South Korean Celtic sold to Genk for £4.5m in 2024.

67 Hail Hail have compiled Boyd’s reactions live on Sky Sports below to Oh’s penalty miss, disallowed goal and brilliant finish.

The game came to life right at the end of the first-half when Mohamed Diomande was sent off for a poor challenge, before a number of flashpoints involving Oh.

Genk were awarded a penalty after a VAR review deemed James Tavernier to have tripped an opponent in the box. Oh stepped up, but Jack Butland saved his effort.

Boyd seemed pretty happy at the end of his update that Oh had missed and the score was still 0-0. But not for too long…

Oh then found himself through on goal after 55 minutes and slotted a finish into the opposite corner past Butland, the strike which inevitably won the game.

Naturally, you could tell Boyd wasn’t too pleased as he quickly got his update out of the way.

Sky Sports presenter Mike Wedderburn then said: “Uch, ex-Celtic player to do it too. That will rub salt into the wounds. Thanks, Kris.”

Oh’s disallowed goal update from Boyd

And then the final big update of the evening regarding Oh came after 71 minutes when his finish to make it 2-0 was ruled out by VAR.

Oh was in an offside position when the ball was played, but Genk still went on to secure a 1-0 win as Boyd moaned about how open Rangers were to play against.
