Celtic’s capture of Kelechi Iheanacho was met with a mixed reaction by the supporters.

The Nigerian international, at just 28, is entering the peak years of his career and at one time, the signing of Iheanacho would have been seen as a bit of a coup by Celtic.

Bought by Leicester City for £25m in 2017, Iheanacho was once one of the top up-and-coming players in the English Premier League.

However, after Leicester, the Nigerian international bounced around different clubs before landing at Celtic this summer on a free transfer.

But many Celtic fans will remember Iheanacho from a famous Champions League night back in 2016 when Brendan Rodgers’ side almost gave Pep Guardiola’s Man City a bloody nose at the Etihad.

The Champions League night Kelechi Iheanacho saved Man City vs Celtic

Celtic have played Man City twice in the Champions League. The most high-profile of the two games was the 3-3 draw at Parkhead where Moussa Dembele ran riot against the English Premier League champions.

But it was in the return game at the Etihad where Iheanacho spared Man City’s blushes as Celtic fans can look back and see the best and worst of the new summer signing.

Have a look at this.

Iheanacho’s equaliser was a thing of beauty as he rifled home an eighth-minute equaliser against Celtic.

However, Iheanacho did pass up a gilt-edged chance by failing to pass the ball into the Celtic net in a chance that was far easier than his actual goal.

There is no doubt Iheanacho is a quality player, but at 28, are his best days behind him already?

Did Kelechi Iheanacho play for Man City in the epic Champions League draw at Celtic Park?

Good question. Unfortunately the new Celtic man did not line up for Man City in the 3-3 Champions League draw.

The Nigerian was left on the bench as this all unfolded around him:

What Celtic fans would give to have the quality Rodgers had at his disposal then in the team right now.
