Celtic have announced the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Nigerian was said to be on Celtic’s radar at the end of transfer deadline day as the club stumbled about at the last minute after Kasper Dolberg rejected the Bhoys.
Iheanacho is no stranger to Brendan Rodgers after he played for the Celtic manager during his time at Leicester City winning an FA Cup and a Community Shield.
The Nigerian international has now joined Celtic on a one-year deal, with an option for another and Brendan Rodgers has sent a message to fans about the international striker.

Kelechi Iheanacho ‘can be a great signing for Celtic
Iheanacho is Celtic’s twelfth signing of the transfer window and Rodgers sent the fans a message about the Nigerian international striker.
Rodgers said on Celtic FC, “I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate.
“I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team.”
The last competitive match Iheanacho played was for Nigeria in the Unity Cup friendly against Jamaica in May so it will take some time to get the striker’s fitness up for the season ahead.
Will Kelechi Iheanacho be included in Celtic’s Europa League squad?
Brendan Rodgers and Celtic had until 11pm last night to submit their Europa League squad for the upcoming campaign.
With Iheanacho being announced at 11:06pm, Celtic supporters will be at least hoping the club sealed this deal on time for the Europa League deadline.
The reaction online tells fans all they need to know about what they think of the Celtic board’s handling of the transfer window, and they are demanding answers.
What can be guaranteed is when domestic action resumes, the Celtic supporters will be right behind Iheanacho and the team. The board? Not so much.
