‘We know the player’ – Manuel Neuer pinpoints Celtic danger man and what Bayern Munich have ‘worked on’

Manuel Neuer is hoping his teammates can shut down Celtic’s danger men this evening.

Bayern Munich know how “special” a fixture it will be in the Champions League tonight with their knockout playoff first-leg set to be a serious challenge for both clubs.

The Bundesliga giants may well be favourites but the Hoops are in fine form and feeling confident knowing they can score goals against any opponent.

Adam Idah has hit the goals trail recently while their wide players have chipped in with plenty of goals of their own.

And it is indeed a winger that Neuer and co. are aware of as the main man in green and white that they will have to contend with in Glasgow tonight.

Neuer picked out Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn as the main threat

“We know the player who played in Bayern’s second team, Kuhn,” Neuer said.

“He is quite fast. In general, we know of their offence especially myself as a goalkeeper so we have to think of the ones who are fast, who are good at switching and who can shoot.

“The problem is always the transition to have that be there very fast.

“To play man vs man to win the duels, the counters, to make the right decisions in the box.

“We have worked on that.”

Kuhn’s Celtic stats this season

Kuhn will likely take Neuer’s words as a compliment but the 25-year-old has not needed extra motivation to shine this term so far.

The playmaker hit a brilliant double to set Celts on their way to victory in the Champions League over RB Leipzig earlier this season.

He has also dwarfed his own statistics this year compared to last as a player in Glasgow to come up as one of the player of the season candidates.

The German international hopeful curled in a beauty for his most recent goal against Dundee in his side’s 6-0 win over the Dees last week.
