Celtic’s squad is getting stronger and stronger with each passing game.
A key reason behind this all isn’t just Brendan Rodgers taking players’ games to the next level, but the recruitment at Parkhead has been outstanding.
From Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou to the returning Rodgers, the transfer business conducted has helped the club continue to dominate and take their game to higher heights.
One of Celtic’s summer arrivals was loanee Alex Valle, who came with a big reputation from Barcelona and a big platform.
This was an exciting coup for the Scottish champions, and with the Christmas lights not even up yet, Valle is already challenging Greg Taylor for a starting spot.
Celtic outclassed RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night and one of the topics of discussion was who would start at left-back.
In the end, Rodgers opted for Taylor, but that doesn’t mean Valle hasn’t been performing well because he is already catching the eye and those in Catalonia are keeping a close eye on him.
Barcelona looking at Alex Valle as a back-up left-back option
There is still a long way to go, but Valle has started strongly in Celtic colours and you feel if it continues that way, then it will result in him going down one road.
Of course, the powers that be at Parkhead would love to take him on full-time, but his talents might even end up meriting a place in the Barcelona squad next season.
Spanish outlet Sport 45 report that Barcelona are following up Valle’s progress in Glasgow as they look to bolster their left-back options for next season.
It highlights how the 20-year-old, yet to play for the Barca senior side, is ‘offering a good level’ in the colours of Green and White.
It is noted that Alejandro Balde is the undisputed starter for the high-flying La Liga side, but the want to bring in Alphonso Davies on a free transfer from Bayern Munich might not happen.
That’s why more eyes are on Valle to see how he progresses.

Valle’s stats for Celtic this season
Valle first truly revealed himself during Celtic’s win over St Johnstone in September when he provided a sublime assist.
Since then, his minutes have increased in all competitions and some probably feel he should be the regular starter at left-back.
WhoScored have rated his performances at 7.10 overall, including 7.51 in the Premiership alone.
