What Birmingham City fans are saying about Kyogo as Celtic transfer rumours swirl

What a 12 months it has been for Kyogo Furuhashi, and all for the wrong reasons.

This time last season, Kyogo was building the blocks towards Celtic’s 55th Premiership title, and also helping them reach the play-off phase of the Champions League.

Fast forward to the present, and the Japan star is just about getting minutes for a mid-table Championship side in Birmingham City.

Added to that, Kyogo has only scored one goal since leaving Celtic, and there are some calling for him to return to Glasgow.

But what do the Birmingham fans think of their £10 million forward?

Celtic need a striker, so many chances are being created under Wilfried Nancy, but nobody is there to kill off games or prove to have that ruthless streak.

That’s where some think Kyogo would be useful for his former club, and let’s be honest, Celtic love bringing back a former player – Kieran Tierney and Jota in recent times.

But the Birmingham fans themselves are mixed on the player. Some feel he hasn’t been provided with enough minutes and starts to get out of his rut.

Whilst others think it’s an excuse and he has had enough time to prove his worth, and they would happily sell him to Celtic.

There were even some suggestions that the Hoops should consider a swap deal involving Auston Trusty, but that is never going to happen.

@WKG_97 explains why Kyogo deserves some leeway: ’20 games, 0 goals for Kyogo does sound bad, but most of them games he’s played, 10-20 minutes only. Checking online, it looks like his total minutes equals 8, 90-minute matches. Davies needs to start him.’

But the hope Kyogo brought after his first game haven’t come true according to this Blues fan, as @iloveblues1999: ‘I really do wonder what happened to that first game of the season Kyogo. I really thought he’d be a bagsman off that game.’

@OscKro explained what it would take for Celtic to purchase Kyogo: ‘You give 75% of what we paid for him, it’s a deal.’

This Birmingham fan wants Trusty involved in the deal, as @ChrisJS04 suggested: ‘Trusty swap deal.’

And this fan added Hatate, as @Doddzie09 stated: ‘Trusty and Hatate?’

Another mention of Trusty, as @Harry_BCFC added: ‘5m and Trusty? USA USA USA.’

@Sidbcfc_ thinks Ange could fire Kyogo into life in the Midlands: ‘Appoint Big Ange and get Kyogo firing in the goals.’

This Blues fan says there is a ‘myth’ about the Celtic hero, as @LazyNumber9 argued: ‘Of Kyogo’s 20 appearances, only 5 have been for less than 25 minutes. Let’s stop this myth that he only gets 10 minutes and hasn’t had enough time to at least do something.’

And the critique continued, as @nathang1988 questioned: ‘Why are so many people wanting Kyogo to start tonight? On what bases? I can’t think of any moment where I’ve watched him and said he deserves to start. Not sure what else people have seen to want him to start. Are people expecting him to go on a mad scoring run? I’m not.’
