To say there is ill-feeling between Celtic supporters and members of the board is an understatement.

It’s no secret that Celtic supporters want regime change inside Parkhead with Peter Lawwell, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay at the forefront of many fans’ thoughts.

The Celtic board have pushed the supporters to end of their tether after fans watched players like Nicolas Kuhn, Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah all get sold off with the club failing to bring in suitable replacements.

However, as the fans target three specific men in suits, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has opened up on how his relationship with Parkhead CEO Nicholson really is after the fan protest took place at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers admits he has a ‘really good relationship’ with Celtic CEO Nicholson

Rodgers was delighted with his Celtic team’s win at Kilmarnock but when pushed on what happened at the Friday meeting with the Hoops CEO, the gaffer opened up on his relationship with the much-lamented board member.

PLZ Soccer posted what Rodgers said on X, “Michael’s a good man. I have a really good relationship with him and Chris McKay.

“They’re the guys I deal with day-to-day. We all know what we need to assess and be better at. Look at Sebastian [Tounekti].

“We have him in when we wanted to have him in, it could have been different for us.

“These are things we need to find clarity on and be better at. In the meantime, the concentration is on football.”

The last time Michael Nicholson spoke to Celtic supporters

It’s been a long time since Nicholson addressed the Celtic support, so much so that many will need to rack their brains to even remember what the CEO said.

It was back in 2023 the last time the Celtic CEO spoke and it was, ironically about investing in the Hoops first team after Rodgers re-joined the club.

At the time, Nicholson said, “I think from our perspective, the strategy has always been clear, and that’s to be a world class football club in whatever we do.

“As Brendan mentioned, we want to dominate in Scotland and compete in the Champions League, and that has been clearly stated for many, many years. So there’s no change in that regard.

“What we have done over many years is to continuously improve as a football club, to invest. We’ve got a sustainable model, a self-financing model, so we invest when we can for today, tomorrow and the long-term.

“So there’s no significant change there. And we all want the same thing, which is to win.”

Oh how times have changed.
