Celtic lost in embarrassing fashion against a Dundee side who can barely muster a shot on goal this season.
Before today’s win against Celtic, Dundee have averaged just over two shots on target per game as Steven Pressley’s side languish at the bottom of the table.
However, against Celtic, the Taysiders managed 10 shots on goal with three of those on target as Dundee still managed to score a third of their total goals against a Brendan Rodgers side that look bereft of ideas.
The Celtic manager now needs to pick his side up for Thursday night’s Europa League game against Sturm Graz on Thursday night.
But for now, Rodgers is left to explain to the Celtic support why his team are so bereft of ideas against a side who just schooled his players for the first time in over 38 years.

Brendan Rodgers refuses to blame Celtic fan protest as reason for defeat vs Dundee
Rodgers is likely to face a furious backlash from the supporters after they watched yet another insipid Celtic performance this season.
So what did the Hoops boss make of the Celtic performance against Dundee?
Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland, “We have to give credit to Dundee, they defend very well when they got in front. I think all the statistics in the game, we dominated the ball, but I didn’t feel that we did enough with it.
“We had some opportunities in the first half and got into some good areas in the second half, likewise. But we’ve seen it before, really, in a number of games this season.
“I think it’s six games we haven’t scored in, so we’re just lacking that bit of finesse and that bit of quality in the final third of the pitch, and if you can’t break that down against teams that are low, then you may be going to suffer. So, yeah, it was a disappointing day for us”
When asked if the fan protest could have been one of the reasons for Celtic’s defeat, Rodgers replied, “Listen, we had to wait 90 odd minutes after that to be better.
“You know, the protest has nothing to do with defending the corner or giving the ball away and losing a goal on the counter attack. It’s nothing to do with the protest.
“We have to be better, and ultimately, we have to look on the pitch, first and foremost.”
Celtic’s next three Scottish Premiership fixtures after Hearts at Tynecastle
Celtic now go into the game against Hearts next weekend knowing that they must avoid defeat to stop the gap at the top of the league from extending.
However, after that, there are still tough games that await the Celtic boss:
- Wednesday 29th October: Celtic vs Falkirk
- Sunday 9th November: Celtic vs Kilmarnock
- Saturday 22nd November: St Mirren vs Celtic
Make no mistake, the way Celtic are playing right now, not one of these games is a guaranteed three points for the Bhoys so Rodgers needs to get his thinking cap on
