Wilfried Nancy’s impending arrival at Celtic is close, and Tom Bogert has shared what his former players at Columbus Crew and Middlesbrough’s Aidan Morris privately think of him.
Nancy’s appointment at Celtic will end a four-week search for a new boss after Brendan Rodgers’ shock resignation back in October.
The Frenchman is extremely highly rated in the MLS and Celtic have now been told just how good Nancy is as a person and as a coach.
MLS expert Tom Bogert has been extolling the virtues of Nancy to Celtic and now, he shares what he has been told privately about the coach and the man from his former players at Columbus Crew and Middlesbrough’s Aidan Morris.

Middlesbrough’s Aidan Morris says incoming Celtic man Wilfried Nancy is ‘one of the best managers in the world’
Morris played under Nancy when he won the MLS Cup with Columbus Crew and the now Middlesbrough midfielder was blown away by the incoming Celtic boss.
Bogert told Sky Sports Scotland, “Wilfried Nancy is a really likeable guy. The way that he treats people.
“When I talk to backroom staff, lower-level staff at Columbus Crew, they all rave about him. The players all rave about him.
“Aidan Morris, I was speaking to him a few weeks ago, he’s now in Middlesbrough. He was like, ‘This is gonna sound dumb to people in the UK, or if you’re reading this and you don’t know anything about the MLS’, he goes, ‘I think Wilfried Nancy is one of the best managers in the world. Kind of full stop’.
“It wasn’t a fluke run, it wasn’t a lot of luck, it wasn’t set pieces, it wasn’t teams missing chances, they were the dominant team in MLS that season.” 🤯
Celtic told Wilfried Nancy is ‘an excellent coach’
As well as a glowing endorsement from his ex-players, Bogert goes on to say that Nancy is an excellent coach and human being.
Bogert continued, “And again, that sounds like a ludicrous thing to say, but that’s how well he’s revered among his current and former players and everybody around him.
“He’s the guy after they win MLS Cup, he goes ‘impossible as an opinion’.
“These are the things he says, the way that he can manage the group and the way that he interacts with people.
“He’s just a good person and an excellent coach.”
Nancy is giving off vibes that he could be the man to help inspire the team and galvanise the support as Celtic supporters’ relationship with the board breaks down further.
