Celtic have a new coach in town.
While Celtic took their time to re-appoint Martin O’Neill and then bring in his coaching staff, the club were pretty quick to add Ross Grant’s name to the set-up.
Grant joins as Celtic’s new set-piece coach, and if the Celtic Park faithful are wondering what he will bring to the table, then you just need to look towards a certain Derek McInnes for your answer.
McInnes is now Rangers’ new boss, but he worked with Ross at Hearts, and at the time of his appointment last summer, he lauded and applauded the boyhood Celtic fan.

Set-piece coach Ross Grant is a ‘huge value’
“Set-plays have always been a huge part of any team,” McInnes told the BBC last August. “I’ve seen the gains that can be made, and as a manager, you have to take advantage. There are a lot of clubs so finely balanced, and sometimes set-plays can be the difference.
“We’ve (Hearts) obviously brought in Ross to aid us with that, and it’s his job to look forensically at the opposition and where we can get gains. It’s something we’ve always done as a staff, but we’ve got that added time and added focus on it from Ross. He’s done brilliant and long may it continue.
“It’s about identifying areas where we can get as much joy as possible. Underneath it all, it’s about good deliveries, good timing and aggressive players wanting to get on the end of it.
“I’m glad we’ve got Ross. He’s been a huge value to us, and it’s good that he’s getting recognition for his work because his work is good.”

Time for Celtic fans to get excited…
There is a lot to moan about at Celtic, but this is where you give the club its dues because it’s a fantastic appointment.
Remember, McInnes’ comments about Grant came at the start of the 2025/26 season. The then-Hearts boss bigged up the Scotsman, and he went on to produce.
Hearts scored 23 goals from set-plays last season, including twice at Parkhead, and on that final day title drama last season.
Grant did his job. Took the Jambos to the next level, and now it’s time to produce the same magic at the champions of Scotland.
