Martin O’Neill is the glue that is keeping everyone at Celtic together.
On Tuesday, Celtic lock horns with Shelbourne in Ireland, as pre-season begins ahead of the 2026/27 Premiership campaign.
The Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs (AICSC) were due to have their general meeting with the Parkhead chiefs on July 4.
But according to AICSC, they had to ‘alter’ proceedings following ‘a last-minute request’ from the club.
Led by O’Neill, he still met the Celtic supporters in Ireland, alongside board members Brian Wilson and Michael Nicholson, as many issues were put on the table.

The concerns the Celtic fans in Ireland raised to the board and Martin O’Neill
Even though Celtic won the domestic double last season, it simply papered over the cracks, and nobody understands that better than the paying supporters.
The AICSC have claimed in their statement that they, alongside Irish Supporters Clubs, raised issues that have ‘affected both fans and the club.’
The topics brought up were: ‘transfers, communication, fan engagement and modernising club structures.’
With the 2026 summer transfer window wide open, and fans worried whether the club will provide O’Neill enough ammunition for the champions of Scotland to push forward, this was always going to be mentioned.
While stand-in chief chairman Brian Wilson has communicated with fans on various topics, it’s still via club channels, and you still don’t hear much from Michael Nicholson.
Celtic are quick to communicate about a new strip, but not on the most important matters in Glasgow.

The statement from The Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs
AICSC wrote: “The Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs held their AGM in Cork on July 4th. The scheduled proceedings were slightly altered due to the AICS receiving a last-minute request from Celtic Football Club to allow Celtic manager Martin O’Neill and board members Brian Wilson and Michael Nicholson an opportunity to engage with supporters and clubs as part of their Irish tour.
“The AICS accepted the request as a chance for fans and Irish Supporters Clubs to raise questions and concerns directly with the board on issues that have affected both fans and the club. Particularly around transfers, communication, fan engagement and modernising club structures.
“The AICS has a duty of care to represent Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs and welcome the opportunity to engage in improved fan communication with Celtic as a forum to raise, challenge and engage on matters that concern fans and Irish Supporters Clubs directly with the board.
“The AICS continues to grow year on year, and we pay homage to our clubs and members all over Ireland that freely give up their time to build and help in the development of the AICSC.
“Congratulations to the newly elected Committee who have been entrusted by our members to promote and build the objectives of the AICSC over the next year.”
