Brendan Rodgers is enjoying the accolades after Celtic’s win over RB Leipzig puts the Hoops boss firmly in the driving seat to qualify from the Champions League group phase.
Over the last 48 hours or so, big-name pundits like Chris Sutton have praised Celtic as well as the likes of Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards all talking up the Bhoys’ result against RB Leipzig.
The Celtic fans have also been over the moon with the players after Daizen Maeda terrorised the Leipzig defence.
So in public, the coverage of Celtic has been a sea of positivity. But what are pundits really saying privately?
Jim White hails Celtic’s ‘brilliant result’ vs RB Leipzig in Champions League
Jim White and Simon Jordan were discussing Celtic’s Champions League win when both pundits shared what they really thought of the victory off-air at talkSPORT.
White told talkSPORT, “This was a massive result for Celtic beating Leipzig after the mauling in Dortmund and Scotland taking a hiding at the hands of Germany at the Euros.
“This was a massive result for Celtic and Scottish football. We know that. We know that it was a brilliant result.
“Simon and I were talking off-air about how pleased we are for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.”
Simon Jordan calls out the people who ‘enjoyed’ criticising Celtic and Brendan Rodgers
Jordan, who has been bizarrely critical of Celtic this season, concurred and replied, “It was a brilliant result. He [Rodgers] took a load of stick after that Dortmund game, and people enjoyed dishing it out.
“And he went to Atlanta, got a decent point there and they’ve beaten Leipzig at home. They put themselves in a really good position, you know?

“They’ve got Club Brugges, they’ve got Young Boys at home and could win. And you know, they can be optimistic about automatic placement out of the Champions League.”
Celtic now have a great chance of progressing from the league phase this season and a win against Club Brugge and Young Boys will seal it.
How far can Celtic go in the competition? Well, no one believes the Parkhead club can win it but one thing is for sure, not many teams will look forward to coming to Celtic Park after watching the fate suffered by Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig.
