Luis Palma is not having the best of times at Celtic this season.
Palma arrived at Celtic last summer for £3.5m from Greek side Aris and had a relatively good start to his time at the club.
Last season the Honduran scored 10 goals and created 10 assists as Palma made his mark at Celtic in the Champions League and domestically.
The 24-year-old winger has found this season a bit tougher as most of Palma’s appearances for Celtic have been from the bench.
Because of his lack of game time, Palma has found himself out of the Honduras squad, leading to his international teammates sending the Celtic attacker a message.
Luis Palma told to ‘keep going’ at Celtic
Honduran left back, Joseph Rosales was asked about Palma’s omission from the national squad and he told the Celtic forward to ‘not give up’ and win his place back in Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Rosales told Deportes TVC, “It is a very difficult issue, we know what Palma is going through, but he knows more than anyone that he can get through it. I can only give him a few words to not give up and to keep working, everything will come.
“It is difficult when a teammate does not have the desired minutes, in my case, I was like that last year, I did not play, they gave me five minutes and I got frustrated. But that’s where the family is always supportive and you have to put your head into it to keep going.” [Translated by DeepL]
Rosales has played behind Palma on the Honduran left flank on no less than nine occasions and will be keen to strike up his partnership with the struggling Celt sooner rather than later.
Celtic winger Luis Palma is ‘one of the best’
Bryan Acosta is one of Honduras’ most experienced players with 66 caps so if there was any advice Palma was going to take on board about his situation at Celtic, it would be the influential defensive midfielder’s.
Acosta also told Deportes TVC, “We all know the capacity that Luis Palma has, he has to have confidence in him, he must recover from what happened to him, he must continue to work hard and when he is given the opportunity

“We know that teams like Celtic have several players in the position waiting, and when one loses the position, but he has the ability to regain that level and we hope that he works for that’.
“We know that he is one of the best, and we hope that he recovers that level he has been showing for his personal good and for the national team because we know what he brings to us.”
Luis Palma is aware that he needs to improve at Celtic. The winger addressed the fact that his lack of game time at club level is likely to impact his international career.
And now that it has, the ball is firmly in the former Aris man’s court. Palma must knuckle down and fight for his Celtic future.
If there is one thing that the Celtic fans know about Brendan Rodgers is that if he senses any players are not giving their all for the club, the Hoops boss will waste no time in remedying that with a swift Celtic exit.
