Celtic hero Matt O’Riley’s new chapter at Marseille continued this week.
The former Celtic midfielder was named in Marseille’s starting line-up as O’Riley looked to take on current Ligue 1 champions and Champions League holders PSG.
After O’Riley’s impressive Marseille performance against Real Madrid, the Denmark international was given the nod to face the billionaire PSG side.
And boy, did he impress once again? Marseille ran out 1-0 winners as they ended a 14-year winless run against PSG with a 10th minute goal from Nayef Aguerd.
The former Celtic man was so good, he is now the talk amongst the Marseille support as he wins friends in the French top-flight.

Marseille fans blown away by Celtic icon Matt O’Riley
It seems that the Marseille fans are loving O’Riley just as much as Celtic fans do after his performance helped dispatch the current Champions League holders.
@MikaBielsa was over the moon with O’Riley and said, “He is the precious player ‘who goes unnoticed’. Tactically always well-positioned, engages in duels, wins back balls, during recovery always seeks and finds a well-placed teammate, plays simply and quickly. He won’t rack up stats, but will be very important in the second-to-last pass.”
Marseille fan @PoNeY1212 gushed and said, “The match against Real in ’10 was more complicated, it was hard to find, but the one against PSG should be shown in every football school, in the jargon call it A class.”
@TeamOM660776 concurred with the Rabiot theme and continued, “Do you see his tempo and his first-touch ball control to direct the play forward? Exactly what you were missing with Rabiot. Sometimes, it turns out, violence is a necessary evil for a greater good.”
