What one thing happened during Celtic’s mauling of Dundee ‘showed Hoops’ strength’

Celtic battered Dundee in midweek and showed their class.

It was a magnificent 6-0 win for the Hoops who put Tony Docherty’s side to the sword with the Dens boss livid over Arne Engels’ penalty award.

Celts were comfortable that night and four different goal scorers did the business to ensure they took back their 13-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

One interesting omission from Brendan Rodgers‘ starting XI was that of player of the year candidate Nicolas Kuhn.

The German international hopeful was rested to allow Jota a starting spot after he cried happy tears upon scoring vs Motherwell on his re-debut last weekend.

Nicolas Kuhn replacing Jota showed Celtic’s strength in depth

The Portuguese wide man put on a show and chipped in with a delicious assist for a Daizen Maeda header before Kuhn would eventually be brought off the bench.

He, too, brought a moment of skill when he curled a magnificent effort into Trevor Carson’s top corner to round off the scoring on the night.

And for both Marvin Bartley and Steven Naismith, the fact that Celts can allow for their main man from throughout the campaign so far to sit on the sidelines shows the level of strength on show at Parkhead.

Speaking on the Warm Up show, Bartley provided analysis into the mindset of what Dundee’s players must have been thinking early on in the clash.

Celtic’s wide players should terrify Scottish Premiership rivals

He said: “Jota doing his tricks and flicks in minute one, you start to think to yourself, ‘I’m in big trouble here’.”

And Naismith hailed the talent in Glasgow by adding: “Kuhn as a sub as well, arguably the player of the season so far.

“It shows you the strength they’ve got. They’re in a good place.”

Naismith, as we told you earlier, is a big fan of Jota.

The former Hearts manager sounded the alarm for Scottish Premiership rivals with the attacker now back at his old club.
