Celtic’s next game is against Rangers in the Ibrox Glasgow Derby.
Brendan Rodgers will be keen to get his season back on track after watching Celtic lose on penalties to Kairat Almaty in the Champions League play-off.
Celtic are six points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and a positive result at Ibrox will increase that and we’re not even into September.
After Rangers were humiliated 9-1 on aggregate against Club Brugge in their Champions League play-off tie, Russell Martin was asked about the upcoming Celtic fixture.

Russell Martin hopes beating Celtic will change toxic Rangers fan feeling
Speaking post-match, Martin was asked about the upcoming game against Celtic and how it could ‘define’ his Rangers future.
Martin told TNT Sports, “We’ll see. I can’t answer that now, all I know is we have to be ready and to perform and to win and to make sure the energy in the stadium is different to what you just said.
“So we can only do that by performing and winning the game.”
Celtic fans will be confident of getting a positive result despite having concerns about their own team’s performance on Tuesday night.
Russell Martin’s humiliating defeats against Celtic as a Rangers player
Russell Martin faced Celtic twice as a player during Brendan Rodgers’ first spell as the Hoops boss and he didn’t have the best of times.
In those two games, here is what Celtic did to Rangers:
- 29/04/2018: Celtic 5 v 0 Rangers. Two from Odsonne Edouard and goals from Tom Rogic, James Forrest and Callum McGregor seal a huge win for Celtic.
- 15/04/2018: Celtic 4 v 0 Rangers. Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor, Moussa Dembele and Oliver Ntcham end the season on a high.
Celtic fans will be hoping to leave Ibrox with all three points and further compound more misery on Martin ahead of the international break.
