Another drama-filled chapter has been added to the Ange Postecoglou story.
Despite Tottenham winning the Europa League last month in Bilbao, the London club sacked the Celtic hero over the weekend.
Postecoglou ended Spurs’ near two-decade wait for a major trophy, and also won their first European honour since the 1980s, yet it wasn’t enough for Daniel Levy.
The man, who won the Treble at Celtic, stuck his chest out in November and told the world, ‘I always win a trophy in my second season’, and that’s exactly what he did.
But, throughout Postecoglou’s managerial career, from his days trying to make a name for himself in Australia to the big money leagues of Europe, he continues to prove people wrong.

It just so happened to be that, days before Postecoglou’s sacking was confirmed, ABC produced an in-depth feature on the 59-year-old.
On the programme, British broadcaster and talkSPORT host, Max Rushden, spoke in glowing terms about Postecoglou’s ‘incredibly successful’ time at Celtic.
But Rushden did note how, when the Greek-born Australian first moved to Glasgow, he wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms.
“Success in Japan means nothing to people in Scotland,” said Rushden. “When he arrived, I think most of the reaction was ‘who is this guy?’.
“At Celtic, he was incredibly successful. The football that he played was classic ‘Ange ball’. Very exciting. Very dynamic. Very attacking.
“I think he won five out of six trophies. If you have real success in Scotland, then Premier League clubs do look at you. And, in 2023, Ange gets the Spurs job.”
How many trophies has Postecoglou won in his career?
Postecoglou should hold his head up high, because it’s not like Spurs win trophies for fun, and it will probably be another 20 years until they win another.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Postecoglou continues to add the medals to his name and does so at his next job, because it won’t be too long before a top European team takes him in.
But, added with the five trophies he won at Celtic, Postecoglou wins practically everywhere he goes, and his record proves it.
