What Wolves fans are saying about Dermot Desmond’s statement and Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic exit

Everyone is now waiting for Brendan Rodgers’ response and where he lands next in his managerial career, with Wolves getting a mention.

After Rodgers’ Celtic exit was announced on Monday evening, he was then verbally eviscerated by Dermot Desmond for his supposed conduct in the media, including how he has created a ‘toxic’ atmosphere inside the club.

Rodgers has now been linked to the Wolves gig, with the Midlands side sitting bottom of the Premier League table, and no wins after nine matches.

The chaos at Celtic has made the headlines everywhere, and also caught the attention of the Wolves supporters amid their own similar troubles with the people running their club.

Wolves fans discuss Brendan Rodgers after his Celtic exit

Several Wolves fans want Rodgers as their next manager, but they noted Desmond’s statement verbally battering the departed Celtic coach.

The winless Premier League side stated that Rodgers won’t go from trouble in the boardroom at Celtic to trouble in the boardroom at Molineux.

@JackPLoftus told Wolves fans to read Desmond’s statement: ‘Has everyone who wants Rodgers to come to us actually read the separate statement from Desmond? I suggest you read it, and then get a grip.’

This Wolves fan @RickyStevens7 noted what would happen if Rodgers joined: ‘Brendan Rodgers……won’t make a difference unless the owners change & start spending though.’

Another mention of Wolves’ set-up, given what Rodgers has left at Celtic, as @mabr82 added: ‘I agree with everything, especially the fact he wouldn’t come here with our current set up.’

But this Wolves fan @StephenLapper wants Rodgers: ‘Brendan Rodgers to Wolves. Make it happen.’

@newport_wolves also highlighted Wolves’ issues: ‘We had Lopetegui and didn’t back him. Why would Brendan Rodgers come to our club when we are in this mess?’

@Gman2307 noted the issues in the Celtic boardroom, and the same problems at Wolves: ‘So Brendan Rodgers ‘left’ Celtic after criticising the board over the lack of investment, and now there are rumours of taking over Wolves? Brendon, meet the final owner, boss Jeff / Fosun! #wwfc 😂.’

But @roneilcallo thinks there is a chance of Rodgers becoming Wolves’ next boss: ‘Tbh I have criticised Brendan in the past, but I genuinely think this could be a good opportunity #wwfc.’

@temperingspices wants Rodgers at Wolves, but noted problems with the club’s ownership: ‘Not that he’d take it, or Fosun would go for, I’d absolutely take Brendan Rodgers at Wolves.’

Another comparison of the Celtic and Wolves boardrooms, as @808Slates stated: ‘Would I love Brendon Rodgers? Absolutely, do I see that happening? Sadly not. If Brendon had boardroom issues at Celtic, then Wolves would be on another level. With the allegations from the Celtic board tarnishing his character, a survival job at Wolves could be redemption?’

And that theme continued, as @OldWolfie75 added: ‘Not sure why Rodgers would want to join @Wolves. He left because of boardroom chaos at Celtic. Why on earth would he want to join another club in chaos??? Jeff would shaft him, like the previous 4 Head Coaches.’

Rodgers’ Premier League record

There is more of an understanding from Celtic fans towards Rodgers leaving the second time around because of the off-field issues.

During his career, the Irishman has managed three clubs in the Premier League – Swansea City, Liverpool, and Leicester City.

Whether it’s Wolves or not, many are expecting Rodgers to land a Premier League gig next, and this is his record in England’s top-flight.
