Nicolas Kuhn has had a brilliant start to the season as he now starts to show why Brendan Rodgers shelled out £3m for him.
A January signing from Rapid Vienna, Nicolas Kuhn enjoyed a goalscoring debut in the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen up at Pittodrie in February this year.
However, a well-documented illness hampered Kuhn’s debut season at Celtic but now, the German looks like a totally different player.
One of the first names on Brendan Rodgers’ team sheet, the 24-year-old has made himself undroppable after a sparkling start to the season.
Nicolas Kuhn’s excellent start to Celtic’s season
Kuhn has been on fire at Celtic this season. In just 11 games the German has created eight goals and scored six for Brendan Rodgers across three competitions.
| Nicolas Kuhn | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Scottish Premiership | 7 | 3 | 4 |
| UEFA Champions League | 2 | 0 | 1 |
| League Cup | 2 | 3 | 3 |
| Total | 11 | 6 | 8 |
Kuhn’s attacking prowess has helped Celtic record an opening-day win in the Champions League against Slovan Bratislava and maintain an unbeaten record domestically.
So where does the Celtic winger’s stats rank on a global scale?
Nicolas Kuhn’s assist rate ranked in the global top 20 players
According to Transfermarkt, Kuhn ranks 12th on the global scale of assists for all domestic league, national and international cup [Champions League] fixtures.

Kuhn’s assist rate has him ranking higher than Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior (15th), Arsenal’s Bukaya Sako (16th) and even Barcelona’s Raphinha (41st).
Of course, I understand that there is a big difference between playing in Scotland and in the Premier League and La Liga but when you take into account the quality of players that are available in those leagues, the stats are all relative.
Kuhn deserves recognition for the turnaround he has made as many had written the Celtic winger off after his first few months at the club and the Celtic fans will be hoping the German continues his brilliant form heading into the Aberdeen match this weekend.
