Nicolas Kuhn’s stint at Celtic was short-lived, but successful.
The 25-year-old joined Celtic during the January transfer window of 2024, but was out of the door by the time the 2025 summer transfer window hit.
Kuhn joined Cesc Fabregas’s Como in Italy, leaving a void on the right flank at Parkhead, even if his performances dipped off towards the back end of last season.
Before Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock on Sunday at Rugby Park, Brendan Rodgers wanted to use Kuhn as an example to his new signing, Sebastian Tounekti.

Even though Kuhn’s form dropped off, he still scored a high volume of goals last term, 21 goals in all competitions.
Speaking to Celtic TV, Rodgers explained that, before the German moved to Glasgow, he wasn’t a goalscorer, but that changed in the famous green and white colours.
That’s what the Celtic manager wants to do with new signing Tounekti.
“They bring a freshness and a hunger to it,” said Rodgers about the new faces in Celtic’s XI at Kilmarnock.
“Seb (Tounekti), on the side, I am really excited by him. He’s a type of player that Celtic will love. He’s good in a one-v-one. He can take people on, and what we want to do over time is add goals to his game.
“Similar to what we did with Nicolas Kuhn. He was a player who wasn’t renowned for scoring so much, but we were able to add value to him by having him score more goals, and we are hoping we can do the same with our new attacking players.”
Kuhn’s numbers at Celtic compared to the rest of his career
Kuhn started his youth career in Germany and continued in the Netherlands, including coming through at RB Leipzig, as well as representing Ajax and Bayern Munich’s younger age groups.
But he didn’t play for their first teams, as FC Erzgebirge Aue in Germany and SK Rapid Wien in Austria were the senior sides he played for.
And this is how his goals record fared, for those clubs, compared to his time at Celtic:
- Senior games before Celtic: 78
- Goals: 10
- Games at Celtic: 69
- Goals: 24
