Rennes is expected to announce the purchase of Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic really soon.
The Celtic striker has been linked with a Parkhead exit for weeks now and immediately after the Hoops beat Young Boys in the Champions League last Wednesday, Kyogo’s whirlwind move to Rennes started to gather pace.
No sooner had Celtic agreed a transfer fee with Rennes, than pictures had emerged of Kyogo on a private plane at Rennes as the Japan internationals exit from Celtic Park steamrollered ahead.
However, it’s all gone quiet over the last few days and as Celtic fans started to debate why there was no announcement of Kyogo’s sale, a report from France has revealed that there is a very good reason for that.

Why Celtic’s Jota announcement is delaying Kyogo sale to Rennes
French media outlet, Ouest France, has shared that Celtic’s stance on buying Jota has delayed the sale of Kyogo to Rennes.
According to the report, the Parkhead club wants the 30-year-old striker’s sale to coincide with the announcement that Celtic have signed Jota.
Clearly, this a move designed to take the sting out of selling their talisman, Celtic are being clever by announcing a player in Jota who was a clear fan favourite over his first two-year spell at the club.
How much Celtic are really paying Rennes for Jota
The purchase of the Portuguese winger has caused great excitement among the Celtic supporters. His goals and assists brought great joy to the Parkhead stands before Jota left Celtic to join Al-Ittihad for £25m.
However, with his return to Paradise imminent, Ouest France has shared just how much Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers is set to pay for the Portuguese star.
The report states that Celtic will pay Rennes €8m (£6.7m) which means that the Hoops have made close to a £19m profit from a player they sold just over 18 months ago.
That is an incredible piece of transfer business by the club and the Parkhead dealmakers should be lauded for it.
