As Celtic fans, it would be easy for us to look at our treble successes over recent years and take them for granted. Of course, we don’t, but we could be forgiven if we did.
Ange Postecoglou has led his team to an eighth domestic treble, the Celtic manager’s first in his career, and as Aberdeen legend, Willie Miller was paying tribute to Ange, he had a hilarious wee jab at Hoops defender Alistair Johnston.
Miller said [BBC Sportsound], “When you can lift trebles that tells you all you need to know about the man, the squad [Ange Postecoglou], how they respond to him who they respect on the style of football is easy on the eye.

“We’ve all enjoyed watching them this season. And you know the pinnacle is obviously lifting that Scottish Cup and making it three trophies.
“And I have got to say, for Alistair Johnston, that just does my nut in. Three trophies in six months. I tried for at least a decade to get my hands on just one!”

Miller is a legend in the game. For Aberdeen, he is synonymous with Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering Aberdeen side in the eighties. As well as the European success he enjoyed, the former Dons defender won three league titles, four Scottish Cups and three league cups in his time at Pittodrie.
The fact it took a player of his calibre so long to win one trophy just shows you how incredible Alistair Johnston’s feat at winning a treble is in such a short space of time. A lot of players and managers in the game don’t even get the experience of reaching a major final in their careers yet Johnston has made two and won them both.
It really is quite remarkable when you think about it. Johnston had never won a trophy in his career until he came to Celtic. And this is just the beginning for the Canadian full-back. Now that he has had the taste of success there is no doubt he will be keen to build on that and push on for more next season.
