‘Wow’ – Celtic fans told you won’t see ‘magnificent’ partnership involving Kieran Tierney until 2026

Kieran Tierney has raised the excitement levels at Celtic.

The boyhood Celtic fan’s comeback was confirmed on June 10, and now supporters can’t wait to see him back on the pitch and representing Scotland’s most successful club.

It’s pretty clear that Tierney will be the starting left-back next season, especially with Greg Taylor on his way out, so there is a lot to look forward to.

It’s just a case of who will play ahead of the 28-year-old, and what type of business will Celtic conduct in the 2025 summer transfer market.

The obvious name is Daizen Maeda, despite his huge success as a centre-forward towards the second half of last season.

But there is one name that the Celtic Park faithful will have to wait to see alongside Tierney.

Kieran Tierney and Jota’s link-up at Celtic

Jota’s long-term injury is a pain to all, not just the fans, because it dampened another much-welcomed comeback.

Frank McAvennie thinks Tierney and Jota flying down the left flank is going to prove to be a ‘magnificent’ partnership, as he told his Let Me Be Frank Podcast.

But the supporters will probably have to wait until 2026 to see those two work their magic because Jota’s injury is expected to keep him out of action for nine months.

Host Simon Houston stated: “We won’t see this until January probably, but the prospect of Kieran Tierney with Jota in front of him. It’s going to be something else. Daizen Maeda as well.”

McAvennie responded: “Yeah, wow. Jota would be magnificent with KT. His runs and his positional precision of passing. What he has got in his locker.

“I don’t know about Maeda if he flies by. Maeda might s__t himself.”

Jota’s stats in numbers after Celtic return

It just had to be that Jota scored on his return to Celtic, and it proved to be one of the loudest cheers of the season, alongside that record-breaking James Forrest goal.

Overall, Jota showed many positive signs, especially given that he had hardly played for months and had not had a pre-season with Celtic.

But everyone should look at the positives. Celtic missed out on the Treble by the smallest of margins during the last campaign.

The idea would be that Brendan Rodgers’ side are in the same position next season, and for the run-in, they have Jota coming back ready to spice things up and push them over the line.
