Celtic have been linked with a number of players over the past few months. Even prior to Brendan Rodgers taking over at the club, the summer transfer window did promise to be a big one as Celtic looked to improve their fortunes in Europe.
But Xavier Mbuyamba, who was previously linked to the club has spoken out about his future and has said that any move he makes in the future must be a step up from his current club, FC Volendam.

Mbuyamba said [Glasgow Times], “The transfer window is not over yet and there are clubs who are interested, I don’t deny that.
“But for now I just focus on FC Volendam.
“I’m not going to name any clubs who want me, but of course, it has to be a good step up.
“I’m not going to a comparable club or make a very small step upwards.
“But I don’t necessarily want to go abroad. The Netherlands would be good for me.”
Celtic was last linked to the Dutch u19 international back in May of this year. To date, there has been no mention of the youngster until now.

He did speak out then about the transfer links and questioned then if a move would be best for him and that he would discuss any potential move with his agent.
It doesn’t seem as though this is a player Celtic will be looking to covet. All the recent transfer links and completed business so far for the club suggest that the attacking and goalkeeping areas are where Brendan Rodgers is looking to add bodies.
Yes, the club have been linked to Kieran Tierney over the last week or so but so far, nothing has materialised on that on Celtic’s front.
However, it does seem that Mbuyamba looks like he wants to stay in Holland and with Ajax being mentioned as a club that holds a potential interest in him, it does seem that if it came to a choice between Celtic and the Dutch giants, Ajax would be in pole position to land the highly-rated defender.
