Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun has enjoyed a coming-of-age season with the club.
The South Korean winger signed in the summer of 2023 as one of Brendan Rodgers’ first recruits since his return as Parkhead manager.
Yang cost £2.1m and he struggled to really impose himself last season, scoring just one goal and providing three assists across 31 games that were mostly off the bench.
But this term, Yang is proving to be a shrewd acquisition who is finally delivering his potential, albeit when he is still considered an impact player.
But that’s the point. His impact as a substitute has been fantastic and Rodgers has acknowledged the work ethic Yang has delivered in his development at Celtic.

Celtic’s Yang out injured for at least two weeks
However, Rodgers will have to make do without Yang for at least the next two weeks. Yang come on as a substitute in the second-half as Celtic lost to St Johnstone last weekend.
After being tackled, Yang fell to the floor and landed badly on his elbow, and it was evident that the winger was in a bit of pain.
Rodgers could not take Yang off as five substitutions had already been made, but the incident came close to the end of the match anyway.
The extent of Yang’s injury has now been learned, with Rodgers telling reporters at his pre-Kilmarnock press conference on Friday that he will be out for a period.
Rodgers said: “We’ve got Yang that will be out, he’ll have his arm in a sling for a few weeks, obviously he’s had a nasty fall and a slight sprain of his elbow, but everyone else should be okay.
“Hopefully, he’ll be back before the end of the campaign I think, as I said, it’s two weeks in a sling and then we’ll assess it from there.”
Yang’s Celtic stats and game he will now miss
Yang has featured in 30 games for Celtic this season, scoring five goals and providing six assists – a stark improvement from last year.
It proves Yang is developing as a player, despite Rodgers delivering him a rocket after failing to make an impact against Dundee United in December.
But since then, he’s got the message and has become something of a super sub for the Bhoys when the team have been toiling to secure a result.
Yang will miss Saturday’s encounter with Kilmarnock, which will be the last Premiership game before the league splits in half.
Rodgers is hopeful Yang can play a part towards the end of the season, so it means he may only miss a few games in April.
