Arne Engels has sent Rangers a message ahead of the Celtic Park derby clash.

The Belgian midfielder is looking forward to the big Glasgow Derby and has already said how Celtic have nothing to prove to their big city rivals.

The last time the two clubs met, Celtic lost heavily at Ibrox but since then, Brendan Rodgers has increased his lead to 16 points at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

And now, with Celtic focused on wrapping up the title, Belgian midfielder Arne Engels has shared a warning to Rangers and told the Ibrox club that the Bhoys are feeling fresh after a week of training ahead of the Celtic Park clash.

Arne Engels tells Rangers what they will see from Celtic in the Glasgow Derby

Clearly wanting to put right the Ibrox defeat back in December, Engels has told the Ibrox club exactly what to expect from him and his Celtic teammates on Sunday afternoon.

Engels told the Glasgow Times [print edition page 38], “It’s always nice to have some training days and also relax a bit, not always to go 100 per cent the next day or two days later.

“It’s nice to have just a week in between and that helps us also to get the energy back and that’s what you will also see against Rangers on Sunday.”

Arne Engels’ record vs Rangers with Celtic hero’s contribution in iconic win

Arne Engels has faced Rangers three times in his relatively short career as a Celtic player.

The Belgian has won two and lost once as Celtic make their bid for a ninth domestic treble this season. Engels came on as a sub in the Hoops’ 3-0 win over Rangers at Celtic Park and performed very well.

However, it was Celtic’s League Cup final win were Engels made his biggest contribution to the treble bid as the young midfielder created and assist for Nicolas Kuhn’s goal and took the Hoops’ third penalty in the 5-4 shoot out win.

Hopefully, Engels will have the same impact this weekend and that his Celtic warning to the city rivals comes to fruition.
