Celtic have just over 24 hours to make a signing or two and add personnel to the playing squad.
Though the question must be asked – why would anyone sign for us right now?
Unless the concept of playing for Celtic is a dream ambition sought for since boyhood, I can’t think of many good reasons why we’d be an attractive destination for a talented player.
In the last 24 hours alone our manager has launched a verbal assault on his players in the dressing room.
He’s called their professionalism into question, suggested they are mentally weak and even restated his belief that some of them want to leave the club to earn more money.
That, coupled with terrible form and results, is no environment any player wants to come into.
Are we really supposed to be Lennoxtown is a happy place to be right now? Who in their right mind would want to work under Neil Lennon as he burns bridges at a club he supposedly loves?
This all before you even consider the lack of opportunities that the manager has given new players over the last 12 months. Big signings such as Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas have been cast aside.
Even an obviously talented player such as Ismaila Soro took ten months to earn a spot, which almost came by chance.
If I was a football agent tonight, Celtic would be well down the list of clubs I’d be sending a client to. The same goes for clubs looking for a place for a young, talented player to gain experience on loan.

As we head into deadline day, I’ll, of course, have hope that the club can pull one or two deals out of the bag. We have an urgent need for a central defender and a right-back after all.
However, my belief in Celtic as an attractive club for ambitious and entertaining players to ply their trade at is at an all-time low.
It’s in this context we have to do business tomorrow. Don’t hold your breath for exciting Celtic signing news.
In other news, Liverpool have entered the race to make Celtic target Ben Davies a new signing.
