Celtic’s latest training session offers a direct look at the physical standards being enforced at Lennoxtown and how fans should be excited about Alistair Johnston and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Johnston has returned to Celtic first team action after a lengthy injury lay-off saw him ruled out of action since last October.

As for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Celtic midfielder’s fitness has come into question since his Celtic move in January after he was released by Besiktas in August 2025.

The latest Lennoxtown footage released by Celtic shows both players training at full intensity ahead of the upcoming clash against Hibs.

Alistair Johnston’s Celtic injury issues are clearly behind him

There is a clear focus on building physical readiness, starting with mobility work and progressing into more demanding sequences. And this is where we noticed Alistair Johnston.

The training footage shows Johnston sprinting hard, and quick, as he took part in a drill that shows him training at full intensity again.

The Canadian right-back has been a big miss for Celtic this season and with Julian Araujo out with injury, a fully fit Johnston is crucial for the final four games of the season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s ‘strength’ impresses Celtic coach

As for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, it looks like the Celtic midfielder is getting stronger as the season nears its end.

Celtic’s training work shows him being pushed to meet specific physical and technical standards and you can hear a coach loudly praising the Ox’s strength during a high-pressured drill.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was praised for his unseen part in Celtic’s win over Falkirk and with the midfielder looking sharp and on top of his game in training, the midfielder gives Celtic another option heading into the final games.
