Five Celtic players who have already played their last game for the club, including two academy graduates

It’s going to be a massive summer at Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers has a wish list of players to recruit as the Bhoys look to defend their Scottish Premiership crown, as well as build on what was a largely positive Champions League campaign.

Whilst we can expect players like Callum McGregor and Arne Engels to be at Celtic Park next season, the likes of Greg Taylor could well be moving on.

Taylor is likely to earn his swansong and play a role in the final few weeks of the season but for others, they have already worn the green and white for the final time.

So, with that, here are five players who have already played their last game for the club.

Maik Nawrocki

A deal that simply hasn’t worked out. The former Legia Warsaw man has made less than 20 appearances across the past two seasons.

Nawrocki was left out of the squad for the Scottish Cup semi-final and hasn’t featured since a win against Hearts in which the Hoops kept a clean sheet.

Despite this, he’s clearly not in the Celtic manager’s plans and looks unlikely to feature again. Wherever he goes next, he’ll be a success.

Gustaf Lagerbielke

Gustaf Lagerbielke is going to be one of those names that appears in a Celtic guess who quiz and leaves you scratching your head.

Lagerbielke has barely kicked a ball for the Bhoys and has spent the 24/25 campaign on loan with FC Twente.

The centre-back could miss out on European football with Twente but has been a regular and will be one of those to move on in the summer.

Stephen Welsh

It’s always sad to see a Celtic academy star leave, but Stephen Welsh needs to move on for the sake of his own career.

Welsh joined Mechelen on loan in January and has been in Belgium ever since. Although the defender will have aspirations of returning to stake a claim for a starting spot with his beloved club, even he deep down will admit that it’s probably better to move on.

Luis Palma

Although there have been signs of a player there, Luis Palma has been very inconsistent and will probably want a fresh move away from Glasgow.

Dynamo Kyiv reportedly want Palma and even though the Honduran is on loan at Olympiacos with an option to buy, it’s unlikely the Greek Super League champions will buy Palma.

There’s every chance that he goes on to be a star elsewhere, but it hasn’t worked out.

Daniel Cummings

Now that the season is drawing to a close and the Scottish Premiership has been won, there’s an opportunity for some youngsters to be given some senior minutes.

Daniel Cummings is one of those from the academy tipped for big things but, it seems unlikely that he will be here as his contract expires in the summer and the 18-year-old looks destined to leave.

Had it not been the case, there would’ve been more clamour to play him but Celtic should be prioritising those that definitely want to be here next season.
