Hearts fans have no right to complain about the allocation they might get for Celtic title showdown

Hearts supporters have started voicing frustration over the ticket allocation they may receive for the final game of the season at Celtic Park.

Celtic will play Hearts on the final day in the post-split round of fixtures and the game could be a winner takes all scenario for the Scottish Premiership title.

It is expected that Hearts will receive anywhere between 800-1,000 tickets, which has left supporters of the Jambos frustrated at the prospect of maybe missing out on seeing them lift their first league title since the 1960s. However, they have no right to complain.

Your first thought when you see the fixtures…

How many points will we pick up?

Hearts’ own allocation policy at Tynecastle reflects Celtic’s stance

Hearts have made the choice to limit away allocations at Tynecastle, prioritising home support and atmosphere instead. Celtic, and other teams’ fans have seen their allocations cut for trips to Edinburgh. That strategy has been defended as a way to strengthen home advantage, and it has been implemented consistently across multiple fixtures.

The key point is that this was not a one-off decision driven by logistics or safety concerns. It was a sustained policy that directly impacted visiting supporters, including one of the largest travelling fanbases in the country. Celtic’s allocation at Tynecastle has been cut to a fraction of what it once was, a move that generated frustration but is something that has happened across the rest of the league too.

Now, with Hearts potentially facing a reduced allocation at Celtic Park, the same logic is being applied in reverse. The same logic has been applied to other sides who have taken similar measures, most notably Rangers.

Home advantage will be vital for Celtic

Celtic’s home advantage means that they hold the cards in the title race and, despite Ally McCoist’s anger about the Hoops being at home, it was always going to happen.

SPFL fixtures ensure everyone gets 19 home games and 19 away fixtures to keep it fair.

Thankfully, three of the last five games are at Parkhead and the Bhoys have been in much better form when playing in front of their own fans.
