Julian Araujo could be in line to return to the Mexican national team setup following conversations with manager Javier Aguirre, and he could help Celtic’s chances of signing one of his teammates.

Araujo has been a revelation at Celtic this season and fans want him to join permanently after earning comparisons to Scott Brown.

With the 2026 World Cup coming up, it’s the perfect time for Araujo to earn a recall while also doing his best to sell the Hoops to Armando Gonzalez.

Julian Araujo could play with Armando Gonzalez for Mexico

Gonzalez has been linked with Celtic after firing in the goals for Chivas in his native Mexico.

‘La Hormiga’ has 17 goals this campaign and attracted interest from European clubs.

Some reports have said that Feyenoord are the only side to approach Gonzalez but the 22-year-old will have the chance to tell him first-hand about what it is like to play for the Hoops.

Aside from Benjamin Nygren, Gonzalez has outscored every Celtic player this season and has been more efficient in front of goal than anyone else.

Having seen how well Araujo has thrived in Scotland, Gonzalez may see how it is the perfect place to put yourself on the map and also keep yourself in the mind of Aguirre.

Araujo will hopefully play with Gonzalez for club and country together

As well as signing Gonzalez, Celtic fans will be dreaming of a world where Araujo is here next season too.

The 24-year-old is now part of an excellent roster of full-backs Celtic have in their ranks.

If he were here and Gonzalez was to arrive, it would make the settling-in process for the player that would probably be deemed the marquee signing of the summer so much easier.

That relies on the Hoops signing Araujo permanently, which is a move that every fan would love to see.
