Brendan Rodgers has enjoyed tremendous success in the transfer market over two spells as Celtic boss.
In his first spell at the club, Rodgers signed the likes of Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair and Patrick Roberts as he took Celtic to their first-ever Invincibles Treble season.
In his current spell at Parkhead, the Celtic manager has enjoyed success so far, bringing the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan to the club.
However, it cannot be denied that Rodgers has also signed players who made no impact at the club. And it seems that one of those flops the Hoops boss described as ‘phenomenal‘ when he brought him to Celtic Park in 2019 is tearing up the Bundesliga and is also available for free at the end of the season.

Former Celtic loanee Oliver Burke is loving life at Werder Bremen
Oliver Burke was singed by Rodgers on loan in January 2019 and in 19 appearances for Celtic, scored four goals and created three assists in his short spell at the club.
Since then, Burke has created La Liga history by becoming the second Scotsman to score in Spain’s top flight and now, it seems, he has his sights set on Bundesliga history as well with Werder Bremen.
At the weekend, the former Celtic man has his eye on European glory after scoring a brace in Bremen’s 2-1 away win at VfB Stuttgart to put his club in position to qualify for Europe for the first time in 18 years.
Out of contract at the end of the season, Burke is flying with five goals this season, and now that he is free to talk to other clubs, could Celtic and Rodgers be tempted to dip their toe in the water again and revisit Burke again?
However, Bremen boss Ole Werner is keen to keep him and said, “I’m optimistic and confident about a positive outcome for both sides.”
Oliver Burke’s post-Celtic career
Since leaving Celtic in 2019, Burke has had a journeyman career as he bounced from club to club, tasting football in Spain, England and now Germany.
At just 28, Burke is entering the peak of his career but how exactly has he fared since his Celtic exit almost six years ago?
| Oliver Burke | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Celtic | 19 | 4 | 3 |
| Alaves | 32 | 1 | 2 |
| Sheffield United | 36 | 2 | 1 |
| Millwall | 31 | 4 | 3 |
| Birmingham | 23 | 0 | 0 |
| Werder Bremen | 42 | 8 | 1 |
Overall, Burke’s numbers are not great, but confidence is key here and with the Scotland international hitting a purple patch of form in one of Europe’s toughest leagues, as a free signing, would it be worth Celtic taking a punt once again?
