Celtic are back in action against Heart of Midlothian this weekend once the international break comes to an end.
Several Bhoys have been in action for their nations over the last few days, but supporters will be glad to see the real stuff returning amid the Bhoys’ blistering start to the season.
Making his senior international debut for Belgium against Israel last Friday, new Celtic signing Arne Engels has enjoyed quite a couple of weeks after joining the reigning Scottish Premiership champions from Augsburg on deadline day.
Brought in for a record £11 million fee, the midfielder will be expected to play a significant role for the Bhoys in their hunt for domestic success and continental competitiveness.
Brendan Rodgers has plenty of competition for places across his side, so there is a burning question surrounding when Engels will come into starting reckoning.
The Arne Engels question ahead of Hearts clash
Commonly, you would expect a record signing to be launched straight into the starting line-up without hesitation.
However, Celtic have a dilemma on their hands amid Paulo Bernardo’s performance against Rangers before the break.
The Portugal Under-21 international was excellent in his box-to-box role, creating three chances and completing four dribbles alongside contributing with double figures in defensive actions the other way.

Now, Rodgers’s question is, does he alter the balance of his engine room to accommodate Engels against Hearts? It would be harsh to drop Bernardo after his superb exploits in the Glasgow Derby, but is it worth giving the former some minutes to get up to speed?
If you were to predict the situation, the ideal solution would be to start Bernardo and offer Engels another appearance off the bench, still giving him time to make an impact while rewarding his teammate for a strong performance against Rangers.
Intriguingly, the Belgium international in question has returned to Lennoxtown early due to a suspension that carried over from Under-21 level. He won’t be in the Red Devils’ squad to face France this evening.
Granting him some extra time to acclimatise to new surroundings, Engels will be ready to go if called upon as Celtic look to maintain their 100% Scottish Premiership record this season against Hearts. Will he start in midfield? Rodgers has an exciting selection dilemma to consider.
