It’s fair to say that the transfer window hasn’t gone to plan for Celtic.
In our own fantasy worlds, we imagined that six new faces had walked through the door, all hit the ground running and we were top of the league.
Snap back to reality and Julian Araujo is the only signing of the window.
Araujo has impressed but in that time, Wilfried Nancy has been sacked and replaced by Martin O’Neill.
O’Neill admitted that he has said no to signings that have been proposed to him as he looks to lead the recruitment charge until the 2 February deadline.
We’re almost at the halfway stage of the window, however, there is something that is becoming evidently clear.
Change my mind…
Don’t expect many Celtic signings this winter
As each day goes by it gets clearer and clearer that business will be few and far between.
The decision to recall Stephen Welsh from Motherwell amplified how far behind the club are in their preparations.
Hearts and Rangers are currently active in the market while Celtic seemingly wait for the penny to drop.
Doubts over Jocelin Ta Bi joining the Hoops show that there is no strategic thinking in place.
Maybe one or two players will join, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Celtic more likely to sign players on loan, if they join
Marvin Bartley thinks Kieron Bowie would join Celtic if the chance appeared, and there are many Hoops fans who hope that will happen.
But, while O’Neill is in charge until the end of the season, there is no guarantee that he will be the long-term man at the helm.
I want the next manager of Celtic to be…
That presents uncertainty in the transfer market. If the Bhoys were to sign someone permanently, a new manager may decide they don’t fit their philosophy six months later and want to get rid of them.
There is money in the bank at Celtic, but given how cautious the board are with it already, it wouldn’t be a surprise to only see loan deals.
