Three Celtic players who are likely to be sold this summer

Celtic’s squad for the 2025 to 2026 season already reveals which players are central to the project and which are not. The structure of the group, rather than outside noise, points clearly to a small number of players who are moving towards the exit door.

A huge squad rebuild awaits for the new manager this summer and that will mean outgoings as well as incomings.

Some players like Liam Scales have already committed their future, but there are others who the club should look at moving on. 67 Hail Hail has picked out those three.

The 2026 transfer window is still months away, but what is the number one position Celtic need to improve this summer?📝

Tell us why you picked that position

Hayato Inamura

Hayato Inamura arrived as a low cost development signing when he joined from Albirex Niigata for £250k. His profile placed him firmly in the category of a long-term project rather than an immediate contributor.

However, Inamura barely featured and criticised the club for leaving him out in the cold.

That status has not changed, with the defender currently on loan to Tokyo FC after returning to his homeland in Japan and it is difficult to see him returning.

Reo Hatate

Reo Hatate represents a different stage of the cycle in his Celtic career. The 28-year-old has had plenty of highs, but also struggled to be consistent across his four years here.

Hatate has played 17 minutes across the last four games and is one of the many players that has been tipped to leave along with Daizen Maeda.

Celtic will almost certainly make a profit on him, but the midfielder needs a change of scenery and a transfer away suits all parties.

Paulo Bernardo

Paulo Bernardo followed a familiar route when Celtic signed permanently after loaning him from Benfica. His successful loan spell justified that decision and confirmed his ability at this level.

However, that also marks the end of his development phase. He now sits among several central midfield options, and his role no longer stands out within a crowded position group.

Celtic’s squad leaves little room for uncertainty. When a player is on loan, competing within a congested role, or has already delivered value relative to cost, the direction of travel is usually clear.

Bernardo is way down the pecking order, but can still generate cash and should look for a new adventure.
