After Erik Sviatchenko urged Celtic to look at the MLS market for transfers this summer, 67 Hail Hail has picked out three targets that may suit what the Hoops are looking for.
Celtic were linked with several MLS stars following Wilfried Nancy’s appointment but have since moved away from that market.
Sviatchenko thinks the Hoops should follow the model of FC Midtjylland due to their success in Denmark, and has now also recommended that they look Stateside, where he is currently playing.
The 2026 transfer window is still months away, but what is the number one position Celtic need to improve this summer?📝
Tell us why you picked that position
Edwin Cerrillo – LA Galaxy
Edwin Cerrillo would be an ideal Callum McGregor replacement for Celtic due to his composure, positional intelligence, and ability to control tempo from deep midfield.
Still only 25 and playing for LA Galaxy, he operates as a disciplined defensive midfielder who is heavily involved in build-up play.
Cerrillo consistently shows for the ball, recycles possession efficiently, and progresses play through sharp, simple passing, key traits for a Celtic side that dominates domestically.
Defensively, he reads the game well and his calmness under pressure suggests he could adapt seamlessly to Celtic’s possession-based system.
Duncan McGuire – Orlando City
With Daizen Maeda set to leave this summer, signing a winger who can also do a job upfront would be a solid replacement. That’s where Duncan McGuire comes in.
McGuire is 25 and younger than Maeda, but old enough to have had plenty of first-team experience, meaning he can come in and make an impact with the Bhoys straightaway.

He excels at attacking space in the box and consistently finds scoring positions, which is crucial for a team like Celtic that creates a high volume of chances. McGuire also works hard defensively, pressing centre-backs and contributing to the team’s overall intensity, which matches what this team gets from Maeda.
Petar Musa – FC Dallas
There aren’t many more prolific than Petar Musa right now.
The Croatian has nine goals in as many games for FC Dallas in the 2026 season and has been a proven goalscorer across the pond.
He combines physical presence with intelligent movement, allowing him to both lead the line and link play effectively. For Celtic, he would offer a focal point in the box while still fitting into a fluid attacking system. Musa is strong aerially, which adds another dimension against compact defences, and he consistently finds space in scoring areas.
It never worked out for him at Benfica but a return to Europe with Celtic would see him become the first-choice striker with ease.
