Is this Neil Lennon’s last week in charge of Celtic?
It’s the burning question surrounding the club as we enter another seven days of match action.
The manager and his players were offered respite from the pressure of playing this weekend due to the Betfred Cup semi-finals.
However, the pressure on the manager’s shoulders has never been greater heading into Wednesday night’s match against Hamilton.
That match at Celtic Park, followed by another home game against St Mirren, is arguably one of the easiest pairings of fixtures so far this season.
This term though, Celtic have shown there are really no easy games despite the level of opposition.
The Bhoys will be expected to pick up six points from six. At this stage, will that even be enough to save Lennon’s job?
The review of Neil Lennon’s position is due
The outcome Celtic’s January review of the managerial job is expected to be communicated this week at some point.
That was the word from Supporter Liason Officer JP Taylor a few days ago, a man who is doing a tremendous job in difficult circumstances at the moment.
Stephen McGowan at The Scottish Daily Mail reported late last week that Peter Lawwell had even been planning to provide another video for supporters to update them on the situation.
It seems unlikely that even this Celtic board will exit January without notifying supporters their intentions for the rest of the season.
They must know like we do that this is playing with fire when it comes to season ticket holders’ goodwill.
Other rumours exist
Aside from those indications of something substantial being communicated this week, other rumours have surfaced over the last few days.
On Friday, fan website Video Celts reported that the club were preparing John Kennedy and Stephen McManus to take charge in a caretaker capacity until the end of the season.

It was said that Celtic had been willing to give Lennon until the end of the season but that events on and off the pitch last week changed their plans.
How the club would manage all this while also navigating the final week of the January transfer window is anyone’s guess. This is the corner they’ve backed themselves into. There are no easy solutions now.
Whether Lennon is staying or going, I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of which direction Celtic are travelling in by this time next week.
In other news, fans are not happy with Leigh Griffiths today.
