Adam Idah would have thought his Celtic chance was coming after Kyogo left.
Idah was pleased when the transfer window shut without a striker coming in to replace the Japanese, albeit he knew to keep quiet about it.
That’s because he’d have expected to be thrown into the starting lineup under Brendan Rodgers to really show what he can do with a run of games under his belt.
It started relatively well with goals vs Aston Villa, Motherwell, Dundee and Dundee United but the 24-year-old’s goals dried up again with Daizen Maeda taking his spot.

Scott Allan says Adam Idah could leave Celtic
It has been a difficult time for Idah and now former Hoops midfielder Scott Allan believes the 15-goal Irishman could well look to leave Celtic in the summer for regular game time.
He told Clyde Superscoreboard: “It’s not a bad return, but I think there could be more in there. Ultimately, you have to compare it with Maeda because he is the number one striker at this moment in time.
“Coming on for those final 10 or 20 minutes in games, there is pressure on you because you’re trying to keep up with someone who is delivering week in and week out in Maeda.
“I think for Adam Idah personally, he has to be playing games and more minutes to improve. There’s no question of that.
“We see it time and time again at either of the Old Firm clubs, where they have to move on to then develop.
“Further down the line, people might ask, ‘Why didn’t he get that opportunity at Celtic or Rangers?’ That’s the problem. Maeda is a better footballer. He offers more to the team at this moment in time.
“For me, long-term Adam Idah will have to move away to get regular football because there’s no question that Celtic will be adding quality in that department come the summer again.”
There’s also the small matter of Celtic potentially looking for another hitman when the summer window opens.
Adam Idah should be given fair crack at Celtic
Idah cost Celts £9.5million from Norwich City and at this moment in time you’d be surprised to see them recoup close to that fee.
But we at 67 Hail Hail respectfully disagree with Allan’s verdict on the player.
He’s right in thinking Maeda is the main man now. But Idah still has a lot to prove and plenty to give in green and white.
Idah is young and hungry and by all accounts he’s a pro who trains well every day.
He still hasn’t really had that full run of being the main player through the middle.
Until he truly gets that shot, judgement must be withheld.
