The agent of Mohamed Magdy, known as Afsha, has claimed renewed Celtic interest in his client ahead of the January transfer window.

Football Scotland reports tonight that the Bhoys have made initial contact with his representatives. Maher Nawfal, who works with the player, provides a quote to the outlet.

He said: “There has been interest from Celtic but we will take time to consider what is best for Afsha before a decision is made.”

It’s not the first time an agent for the player has touted Celtic interest in the playmaker, quotes from different representatives have been given to various outlets at home and abroad over the last couple of years.

Football Scotland believe teams from around Europe are looking at signing up the attacking talent.

As we know, the Bhoys can often revisit former targets or long-scouted players. Moritz Jenz springs to mind as an example, only arriving in the summer after being tracked since at least 2021.

With 29 goals and 32 assists in 146 appearances for Al-Ahly, he’s proven to be a creative force in a side that competes for national and continental honours. [Transfermarkt]

He was crucial in their 2019/20 CAF Champions League win, scoring a dramatic late winner in the final against fierce rivals Zamalek. It was a stunning finish, volleyed in from outside the box.

The 26-year-old has also earned 20 caps for Egypt, scoring five goals.

Celtic have been exploring different markets around the world in recent years, which recruitment becoming especially diverse since the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

Whether anything comes from this link remains to be seen, but it’s another name to keep an eye on heading into what is increasingly looking like a busy transfer window.
