Giorgos Giakoumakis is moving on from Cruz Azul.

The Greek striker played for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou, signing from Dutch side VVV-Venlo for £2.5m in the summer of 2021.

He scored 17 goals in 29 games across his first season at Celtic Park, and managed nine goals in 28 games during his second and final campaign.

But Giakoumakis was mainly a substitute and he moved on to Atlanta United in the MLS, before transferring to Mexican outfit Cruz Azul in 2024.

Nine goals in 40 games later for the club, Giakoumakis – who would love to play for Celtic again – is now heading for PAOK.

Giakoumakis set to join Greg Taylor at PAOK

Of course, Celtic fans will know that former left-back Greg Taylor now plays for the Greek side PAOK after his contract at Parkhead expired in June.

Giakoumakis will be linking up with Taylor again having spent two years together at Celtic.

It is being reported by renowned Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos that PAOK and Cruz Azul have an agreement in place for Giakoumakis.

It will be a loan move initially with the option to buy next summer, according to Forza via Hellas Football. The striker will reportedly earn €1.8m net per annum at PAOK.

Ex-Celtic star Taylor yet to make PAOK debut

Taylor signed a three-year deal with PAOK in the summer and mentioned that he was looking forward to helping his new team reach the Europa League league phase.

PAOK are in the third qualifying round at the moment, but Taylor played no part in their 0-0 first leg draw with Wolfsberger AC on Thursday evening.

The ex-Kilmarnock ace is yet to make his competitive debut for PAOK having been an unused substitute at the Toumba Stadium.
