Talk of Andy Robertson coming to Celtic looks to be on hold, for another transfer window at least.
That’s as Tottenham are now widely reported to be closing on a deal for the defender, who has now said his goodbyes after playing his final game for Liverpool.
Robertson continues to be linked with Celtic, with his lifelong support for the club well-known. His availability on a free transfer makes a deal possible for the Hoops.
But it doesn’t seem to have gotten off the ground this time around.

Andy Robertson to join Tottenham imminently
After securing their survival on the final day of the Premier League season, Tottenham are now set to complete the move.
The signing has been given the trademark “here we go” by Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Earlier this week, reports revealed that Juventus had made a move to hijack Robertson’s move to North London, creating a dilemma for the player.
However, having already agreed terms with the Lilywhites earlier in the year, he is now set to honour the agreement.
The obvious question mark over Celtic signing Robertson is the same dilemma that Scotland have faced over the last decade: the fact that you can only play with one left-back.
Steve Clarke worked around this by pushing Robertson forward as a wing-back, and having Kieran Tierney in a wide centre-half role.
But unless Celtic move away from their usual back four to accommodate the pair, they would find themselves in direct competition for a spot in the team.
Marcelo Saracchi has done a commendable job as Tierney’s back-up this season, often replacing him from the bench.
The argument can be made that Celtic simply don’t need the 32-year-old.

Andy Robertson’s ambition to play for Celtic
Asked if he thinks about joining Celtic on The Currie Club four years ago, Robertson said: “Every time I watch Celtic, I consider it.
“When you watch them and see a packed Celtic Park, as a fan you always have that dream.
“Ideally I want to finish my career here at Liverpool. If I can stay at the top of my game, at the top of the tree my whole career, that’s the route I want to go down.
“But also, when I look at Celtic and when I was growing up, I was thinking I wanted to give them my best years.
“When I was at Queen’s Park I had a dream of still playing with Celtic and always dreamed of giving my best years to Celtic.
“And now I don’t want to go as a 34 or 35-year-old old guy that my uncles start hating on me because I can’t move any more! Time will tell. I’m very much a person who lives in the moment.
“I don’t look too far ahead and I don’t often look back. There will be a time for that.”
