Martin O’Neill is hoping to add Fares Ghedjemis to his Celtic squad before the transfer window closes on the 2nd of February.

With more reinforcements required at Celtic, O’Neill is keen to get some fresh faces in before the transfer window slams shut in less than 48 hours time.

Celtic’s pursuit of Fares Ghedjemis has been spoken about over the last few days and it appears the Parkhead club are willing to pay at least £6m for the Serie B winger.

Is Fares Ghedjemis worth the £6.5m Celtic appear willing to pay?

However, Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph dropped a late-night update on Celtic’s interest in the Frosinone star and it seems that work is set to resume to capture Ghedjemis this morning.

Celtic schedule ‘further talks’ for Fares Ghedjemis

Celtic have been speaking to Frosinone about Ghedjemis for a couple of days now and it appears the Parkhead club are looking to push on to get their man.

Joseph said on X, “UPDATE: Celtic have scheduled further talks tomorrow as they try to find an agreement with Frosinone for winger Fares Ghedjemis.

“If they can’t agree a deal they’ll have to swiftly move on to Dunajska Streda’s Damir Redzic (if he’s still available), or another target.”

Who is Fares Ghedjemis and why are Celtic willing to pay £6.5m for the winger?

Ghedjemis is a French footballer who joined Frosinone in the Serie A from Rouen for just €300,000 back in the summer of 2024.

Since the move, Ghedjemis has made 51 appearances and scored 10 goals and provided just three assists.

The winger has only played one season of top-tier football in his entire career after starting off at Troyes and Le Havre’s youth academy.

In 124 career appearances, Ghedjemis has scored just 23 goals and created 15 assists and, at 23 years of age, the Frenchman has never featured at any international level for his country.

For £6.5m, Celtic fans may well be expecting a more fully accomplished player for that kind of money but, hopefully, Ghedjemis, if he does come to the club, can prove he is worth every single penny.
