Celtic have had a number of Academy youngsters to move to big teams to try and realise their dreams of playing in Europe’s top leagues.
In most recent times, fans have watched the likes of ex-Celtic kid Ben Doak leave for Liverpool and then on to Bournemouth as the young winger paves his way in the English Premier League.
It’s one of the biggest bugbears Celtic supporters have: that the club spend millions on the Academy but they rarely see that young talent progress into the Hoops first team.
Should Martin O’Neill start Stephen Welsh against Falkirk?
Well, one such youngster who left Celtic for Bayern Munich in 2019 is looking for another transfer move in January, in a bid to save his Scotland World Cup dream this summer.

Ex-Celtic Academy youngster Liam Morrison wants loan move from QPR
Liam Morrison was said to be one of the most talented youngsters to have been brought through Celtic’s Academy in recent times.
The former Celtic defender made clear his World Cup ambitions after Morrison said representing Scotland at the summer tournament would be his ‘dream’.
And now, in order to make that dream a reality, 22-year-old Morrison is prepared to leave Queens Park Rangers on loan, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
O’Rourke said on X, “Liam Morrison is considering opportunities to leave Queens Park Rangers on loan this month.
“The centre-back is keen on more playing time to give himself the best chance of breaking into Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup.”
Celtic fans will find this rather ironic, especially after watching the club recall Stephen Welsh from his Motherwell loan spell this week.
What happened to Liam Morrison after Celtic exit to Bayern Munich?
As we said, Morrison left Celtic to join Bayern Munich in 2019 but he didn’t make a single first-team appearance for the Bundesliga giants.
The defender did make 14 appearances for their U17s before being promoted to the U19s in 2021.
Morrison made his Bayern Munich II debut in December of that year but just couldn’t make the breakthrough into the senior squad.
A loan move to Wigan in 2023 ensued where he teamed up with now Celtic coach Shaun Maloney, where Morrison made 35 appearances for the League One side.
Now at QPR, the former Celtic defender is looking for a move after struggling to break into their first-team this season with just 12 appearances to his name.
