Defender Ben Davies doesn’t want to move to Celtic or Bournemouth this summer.
It was reported this morning by Scottish Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan that Celtic had registered renewed interest in the situation of Davies.
He was, of course, close to signing for the Bhoys in January before completing a surprise last-minute move to Liverpool.
The latest report comes from The Mirror this afternoon. They say that Davies is committed to proving himself at Anfield. He’s not ready to give up on his Premier League dream.
Despite loan interest from the Bhoys and the Cherries, he will reject the chance to move away after assurances from Jurgen Klopp he is wanted.
Celtic have to move on quickly from Ben Davies
It shouldn’t represent too big a blow to Celtic. The club are pursuing a number of central defensive talents. Hopefully, we can easily move on to one of the others.
A permanent signing will also be easier to sell to supporters. We really need to start developing our own talents rather than relying on cast-offs from elsewhere.
Davies was a good idea for the Bhoys when he was coming to the end of his contract and was available on a free.

Now? Less so. He clearly has talent, or he wouldn’t be at Liverpool. However, we can’t get bogged down in the small details of his career. There’s too much other important transfer work to be getting on with.
We still have plenty of other irons in the fire. I hope.
