As well as adding players to his squad, there are players at Celtic Brendan Rodgers needs to get off the wage bill.

So far, Celtic have allowed Luis Palma to leave the club as well as Gustaf Lagerbielke, Maik Nawrocki, Nicholas Kuhn and Scott Bain.

Clearly Rodgers is on a mission to trim down the Celtic first-team squad and it appears that another fringe player is set to seal his Parkhead exit.

Hyeokkyu Kwon is reportedly on the move and it appears that this time his Celtic exit will be permanent after spending time out on loan in previous seasons.

Hyeokkyu Kwon set for Celtic exit to France with medical set in ‘the coming hours’

Kwon signed for Celtic in the summer of 2023 and since then he hasn’t made a single competitive first-team appearance under Rodgers.

Now back from his loan spell from Hibs, Kwon is set to leave Celtic and join French Ligue 1 side Nantes.

Ouest-France have said the South Korean will complete his medical in a matter of hours ahead of a permanent move.

The Celtic midfielder will sign a three-year deal at Nantes. No fee has been detailed.

What Brendan Rodgers previously said about Hyeokkyu Kwon’s Celtic future

Rodgers clearly doesn’t rate Kwon but when he sent him out on loan to St Mirren in 2024, the Celtic boss seemed to hint he could have a part to play at Parkhead if he impressed in Paisley.

The Bhoys boss told Celtic YouTube in January 2024 ahead of his loan move, “I think for the likes of Kwon, he’s come in from the other side of the world. It’s been a challenge for him.

“I spoke to Stephen Robinson on him, he’s got lots of really good attributes, which is why he was brought to here. To get that experience and playing games is important for his development.

“It happened here when I was here first with Kris Ajer. Kris came in and probably wasn’t going to quite get the game time. He needed experience and went out to Kilmarnock and had a great season. He came back and played and did really, really well for the club.

“Kwon, it’s a really good move for him in many aspects – he can stay in Glasgow and he’s going to a very, very good coach and coaching team. We expect him to improve playing games.”

If Kwon does move on this week, he does so with the best wishes of everyone at 67 Hail Hail.
