Brendan Rodgers told Celtic star ‘hasn’t done anything’ since big money transfer to Parkhead

Brendan Rodgers wasn’t a happy man after Celtic’s performance from the weekend.

A lot has been said about Celtic’s defeat to St Johnstone, and how some players have seemingly become a little bit too comfortable in their seats.

For months now, everyone has been aware that the Hoops will secure title number 55, it’s just that defeats along the way have made it less dominant than it should be.

Whether it’s starting players or those coming off the bench, only very few, such as the high-flying Daizen Maeda, can hold their heads up high, and you have very little to complain about.

That’s why, as Celtic push for the Treble, the squad and its depth in quality are being questioned ahead of the home clash against Kilmarnock, because performances have been iffy since the turn of the year.

It will be interesting to see what changes the Celtic manager makes, as one man is coming under fire, despite not even starting many games.

Adam Idah ‘hasn’t done anything’ since his big money transfer to Celtic

Adam Idah first joined Celtic on a loan deal from Norwich City, and he won over many fans, especially with that winning goal against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.

But, since Idah’s £9 million transfer to Celtic last summer, Tam McManus feels ‘he hasn’t done anything’, and he isn’t warranting his transfer fee.

McManus stated that Idah is a much better player than what he is producing, but even since Kyogo Furuhashi’s exit, he still hasn’t taken his chances, as he told PLZ Soccer.

“There are too many players comfortable at Celtic, at the minute,” said McManus. “I don’t think there is real competition for places in certain areas.

“Adam Idah, he hasn’t done anything for £9 million, expecting a lot better from him. No, I think he is (good enough).

“Last season, he came in on loan, and he had a real hunger about him to try and get a move. I think he has got the move. I don’t know if he is sitting, but he is complacent. He has got his big money move.

“He isn’t getting a regular game. But when he comes on. He should be (thinking I need to start more once Kyogo left), and Maeda has shifted him from that position. You know what you are getting from guys like Maeda every week.”

Idah’s stats for Celtic this season

Yes, Maeda might be ripping it up right now, but the fact of the matter is, a door was open when Kyogo left, yet Idah still finds himself on the bench.

That isn’t a good look for the player because, at no point since donning the Celtic colours, has he been able to become a regular starter.

The Republic of Ireland star isn’t going to get much sympathy, because that’s just the cut-throat and high-pressure cooker of playing for a club like Celtic.
